About This Call
The 41st Annual Michigan Fine Arts Competition is open to artists 18 and older living and working in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Original works in all media (except video or canvas/gallery-wrapped copies) created and/or finished after January 1, 2021 are eligible, provided they have not been previously exhibited at the BBAC.
Artists may submit up to two entries for a $40 non-refundable fee (payable online by Visa, MasterCard, Amex, or PayPal). Each entry requires one image. Images should not include the artist's name or borders, and artists must provide specific details about their work's media and materials. The online application deadline is May 6, 2022. Juror results will be posted on the BBAC website by May 24, with award notifications sent by email on June 16. Accepted artwork intake is June 6-10, 10 am-4 pm. The exhibition runs through August 18, with outtake on August 19-20, 10 am-4 pm.
All artwork must be original and gallery-ready. 2D work must be properly wired for hanging. Maximum artwork height is 9 feet. Work must remain on display for the entire exhibition and cannot be removed early. The BBAC retains a 45% commission on all sales. Work not picked up by August 20 will incur late charges of $10 per day. The juror is Marina Pacini, retired Chief Curator and Curator of American, Modern, and Contemporary Art from the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art. For more information, contact [email protected] or call 248.644.0866.
