About This Call
The 40th International Exhibition is open to all artists 18 years or older. Work must be original, painted within two years of the entry date, and not previously displayed in a WAS-H Annual Members Exhibit or WAS-H International Exhibition. Work cannot be completed in a workshop or under supervision, and digital media, photography, prints, or reproductions are not permitted. Each piece must have a title, and all work must be for sale.
All artwork on paper, Yupo, or clayboard must be framed under Plexiglas (no glass), except for artwork on clayboard mounted on wooden cradle panels or framed on flat clayboard panels with protective coating. Frames must be simple wood or metal without designs, beading, or carvings, and cannot exceed 2" in width. Minimum image size is 10" width or height; maximum frame size is 48" in width or height. All entries must be wired and ready for hanging. All submitted artwork must be at least 80% water media on paper, clayboard, or yupo. Works on canvas will not be accepted.
Entry fees are $35 for one entry, $50 for two, and $60 for three. Additional handling fees of $50 for shipped or $25 for hand-delivered art will be due from accepted artists. The juror is Stephen Quiller, AWS, NWS. Over $6,000 in prizes will be awarded, with First Prize at $2,000, Second Prize at $1,200, and Third Prize at $900. Additional awards include the Board of Directors' Award, Jack Bowen Award ($500), and Lloyd Albers Memorial Award ($500). Only one painting will be accepted from each artist, and no artist may receive more than one award. Accepted paintings will be exhibited at the WAS-H Gallery from March 14, 2017 through April 6, 2017. An opening reception and awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2017 from 4:00–6:00 PM. All artists entering the exhibition will receive a complimentary copy of the exhibition catalog.
