About This Call
The 40th Annual Wallowa Valley Festival of Arts is the largest juried fine art exhibition in Eastern Oregon, held September 16-18 at the Josephy Center for Arts and Culture, 403 N. Main St., Joseph, OR 97846. The festival is dedicated to promoting the arts and supporting artists, featuring representational/traditional realism and contemporary art from the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
The festival accepts work in the following categories: Sculpture (wood, clay, stone, bronze, or other metal); Painting (oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache); Drawing (pastel, pencil, graphite, charcoal, ink, or combinations); Printmaking (woodblock, engraving, etching, monoprint, aquatint, linotype, lithography, silkscreen, or digital prints); Photography (any photograph captured through a lens, including digitally altered); and Other (glass, jewelry, fiber arts, ceramics, or mixed media). Copies, kits, reproductions, or work done under instructor supervision are not eligible. Work must be original and must not have been displayed in a previous Wallowa Valley Festival of Arts show.
Entry deadline is July 31st at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Entry fee is $30.00 (non-refundable) for up to 3 pieces. Due to venue constraints, a maximum of 2 pieces per artist will be juried into the show. Size constraints: 3-dimensional pieces must not exceed 72" in total (L+W+H); 2-dimensional pieces must not exceed 36" on any one side (including framing). All entries are submitted online via Call for Entry (callforentry.org). Submit 1 image per piece and a brief artist biography (150 words or less). Acceptance emails will be sent August 8-12. All accepted work must be made available for sale. The festival is open to all artists. Optional events include an En Plein Air Competition (September 10-16) and Afternoon of the Quick Draw (September 17, 1-4 pm). Opening reception is Friday, September 16th, 7-10 pm. Exhibition hours: September 17th, 10 am-8 pm; September 18th, 10 am-2 pm. Artists may leave artwork to hang through September 24th.
