40th Annual Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Exhibition

The Rocky Mountain National Watermedia (RMNW) exhibition, in its 40th year, is presented by Foothills Art Center in Golden, Colorado. RMNW attracts entrants and jurors from throughout the United States and is regarded as one of the top watermedia exhibitions in the country. The exhibition runs September 21–November 3, 2013, with an opening reception and awards on Friday, September 20 at 6:30pm. William "Skip" Lawrence will serve as juror for this year's exhibition.

Eligibility is open to all artists residing in the United States. Paintings must be an aqueous medium on paper, illustration board, or Yupo paper (canvas is not permitted). All entries must be one-of-a-kind, painted within the last two years, and may not have been previously shown at Foothills Art Center. Minimum image size is 80 square inches; maximum is 30 x 40. Accepted work must be ready to exhibit with proper hanging mechanism and framing using Plexiglas only with white or off-white matting. All paintings must be available for sale during the exhibition; Foothills Art Center retains a 40% commission on sales.

Entry fees are $30 for one entry, $35 for two entries, or $40 for three entries. An emerging artists category for watermedia artists age 25 and under offers 3 spots at a flat rate of $30. A $5 media fee applies for additional images. Artists may submit 1–3 digital images in JPG format. The online entry deadline is May 31, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Artists will be notified of selections via email on June 21. Hand-delivered works are accepted July 27 between 10am–noon; shipped artwork must arrive by July 31. Foothills Art Center will offer up to $10,000 in cash awards and merchandise. All selected artists receive one complimentary copy of the 2013 RMNW catalog.
