3rd Annual Women In Their Infinite Forms

Athena Project, in collaboration with Denver Milk Market and Dairy Block, is seeking artists to create art pieces using a provided mirror on a stand and materials of your choosing, with the theme of Women In Their Infinite Forms. Selected pieces will be part of an installation taking place at various venues in and around the Denver Milk Market and Dairy Block from March 1-31, celebrating Women's History Month.

This is a paid commission opportunity of $500 per mirror design, paid in three installments: $100 upon selection to submit a full design (notified by approximately January 12), $100 upon design approval for materials (notified by approximately January 31), and $300 upon completed mirror design (due February 27). An Artist Reception called "Art Strut" will be held at Venture X on International Women's Day, March 8, from 5pm-8pm, featuring a private networking reception for artists (5-5:45pm), a VIP reception for tenants and special guests (5:45-6:30pm), and a friends, family, and general public reception (6:30-8pm). The artwork will return to its designated venue for viewing on March 9, 2023.

Applicants must submit a written proposal of their idea and work samples (1-5 images). Eligibility requires residency in Colorado and/or willingness to travel at their own expense to deliver the completed mirror by February 27 and attend the Art Strut reception on March 8. At Athena Project, "women" is understood to mean many things and can be a complicated term. The organization recognizes that the term does not automatically include all aspects of the gender spectrum and aims to create a safer space for expression and growth for all women, non-binary, and LGBTQIA+ individuals.
