3rd Annual: The Egg Show

The Egg Show at ArtVale Gallery runs from April 3 to June 22, 2019. The egg is one of the most universal symbols throughout the world and serves as a great source of inspiration. The egg has generated myths and tales for many cultures from all over the world. From standard origin stories to superstitious traditions, every culture has at least one egg to crack or cherish. As a tangible object, the egg is a truly 'real' form. And yet, conceptually, it is a wholly surreal object impregnated with questions of duality: the egg is at once both object and subject; it is both a symbol and a form; the origin and the continuation; the egg is internal and external; it is the vessel for transformation and evolution; the egg is food, sex and life.

Eligibility: All artists 18 and over currently residing in the US are eligible to apply. This call is for 2D and 3D works measuring less than 40 inches in any dimension (including frame). Submit up to 5 images with medium, dimensions, title, and any relevant installation information. Include a brief artist statement regarding the relevance of the egg within your artwork. Entry fee is $30. Applications are due by midnight March 1st, 2019. Acceptance notifications will be received no later than March 8th, 2019. All artwork must be delivered to ArtVale Gallery by March 30th, 2019.

All artwork must be for sale. Artists will receive 60% of the retail price; ArtVale retains a 40% commission on all artwork sold. Artists will receive payments via PayPal or check within 60 days of the close of the exhibition. The Egg Show is juried by Shoshana Zambryski-Stachel, owner and operator of ArtVale Gallery.
