About This Call
This is a Queer and Queer Allied space open to those outside the binary—whether in gender, sexuality, materials, processes, concepts, or outside of the mainstream of society by your definition. Participants must be comfortable with and open to this definition and the diversity it creates within the community.
The 3rd Annual Pride Exhibition is hosted by PRPG.mx in partnership with the Secretary of Culture Mexico, Teatros de CDMX, and many art collectives in Mexico City. The exhibition will include a fashion show (nonbinary), a drag show, and a performance by Gay Men's Chorus. Proyectos Galería MX is a Dab Art Co. satellite gallery located in Colonia Juarez, Mexico City, housed in a 2-story former residence with 3,000 sq ft of combined exhibition space. Entries will be juried and selected based on technical application, originality, and concept. Finalists will be invited to show their work in a month-long exhibition at the gallery. In addition to the physical exhibit, the exhibition will be available online for 2 months, with featured artists receiving a visible profile and selected works listed on the Artsy sales platform.
Accepted media include painting, printmaking, sculpture, glass, fiber, functional, digital, photography, installation, mixed media, and new genres. Entry fee is $45 for 3 images; additional images cost $5 each (maximum 20 images total). Submit 5-20 work samples. All work must be original, unsold, and the artist must own sole copyright. 2D artwork selected for exhibition must be ready to hang with professional-quality frames, mats, and wiring. Artists are responsible for round-trip shipping and insurance. All shipments must include a prepaid UPS or FedEx return label in a reusable container. Gallery retains 50% commission on all sales. Payment to artists will be provided within 60 days after the exhibit concludes and receipt of full payment from the buyer. Exhibition dates: June 11 - July 16 (gallery), June 11 - August 11 (online). Selections will be made and notifications sent via email between May 15-30. Entries are reviewed weekly.
