3rd Annual Piedmont Center for the Arts Juried Art Show

The 3rd Annual Juried Art Show presented by The Piedmont Center for the Arts is an annual, juried art exhibition highlighting contemporary 2-dimensional works by Bay Area artists. The exhibition will feature original art created within the past two years, with 35 pieces selected by guest jurors Christina Linden, Associate Curator of Painting & Sculpture at the Oakland Museum of California, and Rachel Jans, Assistant Curator of Painting and Sculpture at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Thanks to the John P. Thornborrow Memorial Endowment Fund, total cash awards of $4,000 will be presented during the opening reception on Friday, January 8, 2016, with awards of $2,500 for 1st place, $1,000 for 2nd place, and $500 for 3rd place, plus Honorable Mentions.

Eligibility is restricted to artists who reside or work within the nine counties of the Greater Bay Area: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma. The entry fee is $40. Artists may submit a maximum of three images. All artwork must have been created within the past two years and must be 2-dimensional media only, including photography, wall sculpture, fabric, mixed media/collage, printmaking, paintings, and drawings. Work must be able to be hung on a wall, with a maximum size of 48 x 36 inches including frame and maximum weight of 30 lbs. Work must be installation-ready with flat D-ring hardware.

The exhibition runs January 9 – February 21, 2016, with gallery viewing every Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon – 3pm. The opening reception is Friday, January 8, 6-8 pm. Selected artists will be notified by Thursday, December 10, 2015. Artwork drop-off is Tuesday, January 5, 4:00-8:00 pm. Artwork pick-up is Monday, February 22, 3:00-7:00 pm. The Piedmont Center for the Arts does not handle sales or provide insurance for artworks. A 10% voluntary donation is suggested from any sales. Work left after the pick-up date will be subject to a $5 per piece per day storage fee.
