3rd Annual New Appalachia Exhibition w/ Special Guest Curator

The 3rd Annual New Appalachia Exhibition seeks to capture modern, contemporary, and innovative artistic experiences surrounding the Appalachia region and beyond. This year's show will be curated by Jeffrey Smith, a benefactor of the arts in the Pittsburgh region for over 20 years and owner of Jeffrey Smith Salon. In addition to curating, Jeffrey will select one artist to exhibit a solo exhibition at his boutique arts-salon at a date to be determined, with an opening reception and exposure to his clientele, including sales opportunities.

Vestige Concept Gallery's annual spring contemporary showcase welcomes artwork from any medium, including work by Student, Emerging, Mid-Career, and Professional Artists. Work should convey something "new" directionally and may challenge viewers' perspectives on the arts, or offer a fresh take on a classic approach or modern appeal. Sculptural and 3D works are also welcomed. The exhibition is open to artists over age 18 in the United States and Canada. Work should ideally have been created in the last three years and must be original artwork ready to display. Work must be for sale and cannot have been previously displayed in a Vestige Concept Gallery exhibit. No Giclees or reproductions of original works will be accepted unless the work itself is a Giclee or digital print.

Entry fee is $28 for two entries, with an additional $5 per entry for up to ten total submissions. The application deadline is April 15, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Artists will be notified of acceptance on or before April 16, 2023. Shipped works must arrive no later than April 27, 2023. The in-person opening reception is Saturday, April 29, 2023, with a music performance event planned for May 13, 2023. The show runs through Memorial Day. Vestige Concept Gallery will retain a 30% commission for any artwork sold. Artists are responsible for shipping to and from the gallery and must include a return-service shipping label. Unsold artwork will be shipped back after Memorial Day weekend.
