39th September Competition

The Alexandria Museum of Art's 39th September Competition is open to all artists over 18 working in any medium. Each artist may submit two full view works with a $40 entry fee, with additional works accepted for $20 each. All work must be original and completed within the last two years (2024 or later). Entries are blind juried by digital images, which must be smaller than 5MB, saved as JPG at highest resolution, and be full screen and square. Video files must be maximum 100MB and not exceed 30 minutes. No work should exceed seven feet in any direction or 200 pounds in weight.

All works must be framed and ready to exhibit, with nothing painted or adhered directly to museum walls. Selected artists must include a required maximum 100-word artist statement for catalog and label use. All selected works must arrive pre-paid by June 13, 2026, along with a pre-paid return address label. The exhibition runs July 10 - October 10, 2026, and all works must be available for the entire exhibition period.

Awards will be presented at the opening reception on July 10, 2026, including First Place ($800), Second Place ($500), Third Place ($300), and three Honorable Mentions ($100 each). A Purchase Award will be selected by museum staff and collections committee. The juror is Chase Brandon Quinn, Creative Director and Curator of Special Projects at the Mississippi Museum of Art. A 30% commission will be charged on all sales.
