39th Annual Virginia Watercolor Society Exhibition

The 39th Annual Virginia Watercolor Society Exhibition is open to members of the Virginia Watercolor Society. Current paid membership is required for entry. Membership information and dues payment options are available at www.virginiawatercolorsociety.org/Membershipinfo.cfm.

Eligible work includes paintings in watercolor and other watermedia, including water soluble ink on paper or Yupo. No canvas, digital, computer generated, or Gicleé art is permitted. If other media are used, water-based media must dominate the piece. Collage elements are accepted if adhered paper pieces are painted in watermedia by the artist. All paintings must have been completed on or after January 1, 2014 and not painted under supervision. Paintings may not infringe upon another's copyright, and if photo references are used, they must be the artist's own photographs. Paintings accepted for previous VWS juried exhibitions are ineligible.

A maximum of three digital images may be submitted. The entry fee is $35.00 for 1-3 images. All online entries must be completed by midnight June 26, 2018 Mountain Time Zone. Accepted paintings must be framed under plexiglass or acrylic glazing (no glass) with white or off-white matting, with a maximum frame size of 44 inches in any direction. Juror Kathleen Conover AWS D.F., NWS will select no more than one painting per artist from digital images. Artists will be notified of the juror's decision by email by July 28, 2018. Selected paintings must then be submitted for the exhibition, with final selections made from actual submitted paintings. Shipped paintings must be delivered August 22-28 and include prepaid return shipping. Hand-delivered paintings will be received August 27-29, 10:00 am-4:00 pm. Awards will be given at the juror's discretion, with a top award of $1,500 provided by the Virginia Watercolor Society. The opening reception is Friday, September 7, 2018, 6:00-8:00 pm.
