39th Annual No Big Heads Exhibition

The University of Alaska Anchorage Hugh McPeck Gallery presents the 39th Annual No Big Heads Exhibition, a national juried self-portrait competition of limited size. The exhibition is open to all artists. Works must be no larger than 12" x 12" x 12" in any direction, including framing and hanging materials, and must arrive ready to be displayed. Entries must have been completed within the last three years and cannot have been entered into any previous juried exhibition with the Hugh McPeck Gallery. Limit of two entries per person. Works accepted in all media forms.

Entry fees are $20 for the first entry and $5 for a second entry for the general public. UAA students with current identification pay $5 per entry. Students should email [email protected] with their student ID number to receive the student discount code. Fees are non-refundable. Applicants are responsible for shipping artwork to the gallery; the gallery will cover return shipping.

Awards include $1,000 for Best of Show and $1,000 in other cash prizes. The juror is Alvin Amason. Submission deadline is October 22, 2024 at 11:59 PM MST (9:59 PM AKST). Notification of acceptance into the final round of jurying will be sent October 25. A juror lecture is scheduled for November 6 at 7:00 PM in the Fine Arts Building, Room ART105, with the final acceptance list posted after the lecture. The exhibition opens November 7 with a reception at 5:00 PM AKST and closes December 6, 2024. Artwork pickup for local artists and return mailing for out-of-state artists occurs December 6. UAA charges a 10% commission on sales; mark NFS on your application if your work is not for sale.
