39th Annual Michigan Fine Arts Competition

The Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center (BBAC) hosts the Michigan Fine Arts Competition annually since 1982. More than 500 artists from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin enter the competition each year. The competition is juried by artists or curators of distinction who select current work of the highest quality. The exhibition offers $5,000 in cash awards to support working artists.

Participation is open to all artists 18 and older living and working in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Original works in all media (except video or canvas/gallery-wrapped copies) created and/or finished after January 1, 2019 are accepted, provided they have not been previously exhibited at the BBAC. Artists may submit up to two entries for a $40 non-refundable fee (payable online by Visa, Mastercard, AmEx, or PayPal). One image is permitted per submitted work. Applications are processed online through CaFÉ at www.CallForEntry.org.

Accepted artwork must be delivered during intake on Saturday, June 27 (10am-4pm) or Monday-Tuesday, June 29-30 (10am-4pm). The exhibition opens Friday, July 10 and closes Thursday, August 27 at 5pm. Artwork outtake is Friday, August 28 and Saturday, August 29 (10am-4pm) and Monday, August 31 (10am-4pm). A 45% commission is retained by the BBAC on all sales made during the exhibition. The BBAC reserves the right to photograph exhibited work and use photographs or entry images in print and electronic materials for publicity, promotion, education, and grant proposals.
