About This Call
The Wallowa Valley Festival of Arts is the largest juried fine art exhibition in Eastern Oregon, held in Joseph. The festival is dedicated to promoting the arts and supporting artists, reflecting the beauty, culture, heritage, and traditions of the region through representational/traditional realism and contemporary art from the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
The festival accepts work in the following categories: Sculpture (wood, clay, stone, bronze, or other metal); Painting (oil, acrylic, watercolor); Drawing (pastel, pencil, graphite, charcoal, ink, or combinations); Printmaking (woodblock, engraving, etching, monoprint, aquatint, linotype, lithography, silkscreen, or digital prints); Photography (any photograph captured through a lens, including digitally altered); and Other (glass, jewelry, fiber arts, ceramics, or mixed media). Copies, kits, reproductions, or work done under instructor supervision are not eligible. Work must be original and not previously displayed in a Wallowa Valley Festival of Arts show. Size constraints: 3-dimensional pieces must not exceed 72" total (L+W+H); 2-dimensional pieces must not exceed 30" on any side before framing.
The festival is open to all artists. Entry fee is $30.00 (non-refundable) for up to 3 pieces; a maximum of 2 pieces per artist will be juried into the show. All accepted work must be made available for sale at the price assigned during entry—no price changes are permitted after acceptance. Entries are submitted online via CaFE with 1 image per piece. Artists must provide a brief biography of 150 words or less. The 2019 festival runs September 10-15, with the fine art show September 13-15 at the Josephy Center for Arts and Culture, 403 N. Main St., Joseph, OR. The opening reception is Friday, September 13 (7-10pm). Acceptance notifications are sent August 7-11. Check-in for hand-delivered work is September 11 (11am-2pm).
