About This Call
This juried exhibition features the current work of national and international contemporary quilt artists, running July 9 – September 10, 2022. Art quilts accepted for exhibition will exemplify innovation in quilting and surface design techniques as well as excellence in artistic composition and craftsmanship. The goal of the exhibition is to recognize the world's finest contemporary quilt artists and to advance the art form. The Opening Reception is scheduled for Saturday, July 9, 5 – 7 p.m. with the Awards Presentation the same evening at 6 p.m.
Entry fee is $35 for up to three quilt entries. Entries must be of the artist's original design, completed after 2019. The quilt must be predominately fabric or fabric-like material and be composed of at least three layers held together by stitching. 2-D quilts must have a three-inch (8 cm) or greater finished double casing (sleeve) sewn in the top edge. 3-D quilts must be identified as such in the entry description and include detailed hanging or installation instructions. Artists must submit 1-6 images and include a short description of techniques and materials used, plus a statement about the artwork for the Exhibition Catalog. No student work or work created as the result of a class or workshop will be accepted.
Awards include a $1,000 Best of Show Award, a $500 Prize for Creative Artistry, and a $500 Prize for Creative Innovation. Jurors are Denise Labadie, Vicki Carlson, and Ellen Martin. Notification of competition results will be sent via email the week of June 6. Accepted quilts must be shipped between June 27 – July 1, or hand-delivered to The Lincoln Center by Tuesday, June 28, 12 – 4 p.m. The Lincoln Center retains a 30% commission on all works sold. Artists are responsible for all shipping and insurance costs. The Lincoln Center will not insure work for more than 70% of its stated retail value. Accepted works must be available for the full Installation and Exhibition Period (June 28 – September 13, 2022). For questions, contact Todd Underwood at [email protected] or 970-416-2737.
