38th Annual Michigan Fine Arts Competition

The Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center (BBAC) hosts the 38th Annual Michigan Fine Arts Competition. Participation is open to all artists 18 and older living and working in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Original works in all media (except video or canvas/gallery-wrapped copies) created and/or finished after January 1, 2018 are accepted, provided they have not been previously exhibited at the BBAC.

The competition offers $5,000 in cash awards. Entry fee is $40 (non-refundable), which covers up to two entries. Artists may submit up to 4 images total. The juror will select work of the highest quality for exhibition. Juror results will be posted on the BBAC website by June 4, with award notification by June 20. The exhibition opens June 21 with a reception and awards presentation from 6-8pm, and closes August 22. Intake of accepted artwork is June 10-14 (10am-4pm) and June 15 (noon-4pm). Outtake is August 23-24 (10am-4pm) and August 26 (10am-4pm).

All artwork must be original work of the artist with no reproductions accepted. 2D work must be properly wired for hanging. Maximum artwork height is 9 feet. Each accepted work must include artist name, address, phone, email, title, media, and price or NFS designation. If marked NFS (not for sale), an insurance value must be provided. The BBAC retains a 45% commission on all sales. Work may not be removed from the exhibit prior to closing. The BBAC accepts responsibility for works during exhibition but is not responsible for damaged work upon delivery. Artists should contact insurance agents directly for additional coverage. Work not picked up by August 29 will incur late charges of $10 per day.
