About This Call

The 37th Annual Valdosta National is an all-media exhibition hosted by Valdosta State University's Dedo Maranville Fine Arts Gallery. The exhibition seeks dynamic and energetic work from artists making art that challenges, questions, encourages, and supports new thinking. Artists are encouraged to present works that push viewers to think differently, see things with new perspectives, and question expectations.

The Valdosta National is open to all artists ages 18 and over working in all media. Eligibility requirements: artists must be living in the United States, all work must have been completed in the last 5 years, work must be original (no giclées or reproductions), and work previously shown at the Dedo Maranville Gallery will not be considered. Valdosta State University faculty, staff, and students are ineligible. Entry fee is $20.00 plus a $5.00 media fee. Submissions must include 1-3 images and/or up to 3 videos (minimum 1 total sample required). Jury dates: November 8-15, 2024.

Awards: 1st place - $300.00, 2nd place - $200.00, 3rd place - $100.00, plus Honorable Mentions with no cash rewards. Exhibition dates: January 16 – February 7. All 2-D work must be framed with plexiglass and hanging wire (no saw-tooth hangers or glass). Paintings must be gallery-ready with professionally considered finishes and hanging materials. Artwork will be insured while in the gallery (deductible may apply) but not during transit. Artists are responsible for shipping costs. Artwork may be for sale with no gallery sales commission. The juror is Michael C. McFalls, a practicing artist and professor at Columbus State University. Contact [email protected] for questions about installation or presentation.
