36th Annual Michigan Fine Arts Competition

The Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center (BBAC) hosts the Michigan Fine Arts Competition annually since 1982. Every year, more than 500 artists from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin enter the competition. The competition is juried by artists or curators of distinction who select current work of the highest quality. Cash awards support working artists while recognizing their contributions to the cultural fabric of the region.

Participation is open to all artists 18 and older living and working in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Original works in all media (except video or canvas/gallery-wrapped copies) created and/or finished after January 1, 2016 will be accepted, provided they have not been previously exhibited at the BBAC. Artists may submit up to two entries with a $40 entry fee (non-refundable). Up to two images in total may be submitted—either one each for two entries or, for one entry, a second image to show detail. Images must show all components that will be displayed and should not include the artist's name. Entries will be juried online only.

The exhibition runs from June 23 to August 25, 2017, with a reception and awards presentation on June 23 from 6-8pm. Artwork intake is June 12-17, and award notification will be sent by email on June 22. Artists are encouraged to submit work for sale; the BBAC retains a 45% commission on all sales made during the exhibit.
