About This Call

The 36th Annual McNeese National Works on Paper Exhibition is open to all artists living in the United States. Work in any medium using paper as a component part is eligible. Artwork, including frame, should not exceed 40" in any dimension. All artwork should be original and completed in the last two years. Artists may submit no more than three entries. The entry fee is $35, which entitles the artist to a maximum of three entries.

The juror is Johanna Gosse, Assistant Professor of Art History & Visual Culture at the University of Idaho and Executive Editor of Media-N: Journal of the New Media Caucus. The deadline for receiving all entry submissions is February 10, 2023. Notification of acceptance will be sent February 24, with a deadline for receipt of accepted works on March 10. The exhibition runs March 23 - May 5, 2023, with an opening reception on March 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. and a juror's gallery talk and awards presentation at 7 p.m. in the Grand Gallery. $3,000 will be available for the purchase of works for the McNeese State University Works on Paper Permanent Collection. Awards will be announced at the opening reception.

Accepted artwork must be suitable for formal gallery presentation and the rigors of packaged shipping. Works must be received by March 10 and shipped to: McNeese State University/Dept. of Visual Arts, 4205 Ryan St., Lake Charles, LA 70609. All accepted works must include prepaid return shipping labels. Return of artwork begins May 17. A 40 percent commission will be charged on all artists' sales by the Grand Gallery.
