About This Call
The Wallowa Valley Festival of Arts is the largest juried fine art exhibition in Eastern Oregon, held in Joseph. The festival is dedicated to promoting the arts and supporting artists, featuring representational/traditional realism as well as contemporary art from the Pacific Northwest and beyond. The festival reflects the beauty, culture, and traditions of the region through its arts and artists.
The festival accepts work in the following categories: Sculpture (wood, clay, stone, bronze, or other metal); Painting (oil, acrylic, watercolor); Drawing (pastel, pencil, graphite, charcoal, ink, or combinations); Printmaking (woodblock, engraving, etching, monoprint, aquatint, linotype, lithography, silkscreen, or digital art prints); Photography (any photograph captured through a lens, including digitally altered photography); and Other (glass, jewelry, fiber arts, ceramics, or mixed media). Copies, kits, reproductions, or work done under instructor supervision are not eligible. Work must be original and must not have been displayed in a previous Wallowa Valley Festival of Arts show. All accepted work must be made available for sale.
The festival is open to all artists. Entry fee is $30.00 (non-refundable) for up to 3 pieces. Submit 1 image for two-dimensional work and 2-3 images for three-dimensional work. Size constraints: pieces weighing more than 200 lbs. or two-dimensional work measuring more than 20 square feet will not be accepted. Artists must provide a brief biography of 170 words or less. Deadline for entry is July 20, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. No late entries accepted. Acceptance emails will be sent July 31 - August 7, 2017. The festival runs September 13-17, 2017, with the Fine Art Show September 15-17 at Joseph Community Center and Josephy Center for Arts and Culture. An optional En Plein Air Competition is held September 13-14. The opening night reception is Friday, September 15 (7-10 p.m.), and the show closes Sunday, September 17 (2 p.m.).
