About This Call
The 35th Annual Emeryville Art Exhibition is open to artists and craftspeople living and/or working in Emeryville, 18 years or older. All visual media and performance arts will be considered. The exhibition will be held October 2-24, 2021.
Eligibility and Requirements: Only works not previously shown in the Emeryville Annual are eligible. Applicants are encouraged to show work completed within the last five years. Submissions are limited to five artwork images, or three video entries, or three audio entries per artist. Accepted work will be disqualified if misrepresented or if photos are digitally enhanced. Each accepted artist must contribute 3.5 hours of volunteer time or pay a $75 in lieu fee. Artists will be notified in mid-August of acceptance.
The exhibition will be curated by Kathleen Hanna, with jurors Rory Padeken (Curator, San José Museum of Art) and Jan Watten (Founder/Curator, Gray Loft Gallery, Oakland). Sales of exhibited work will be encouraged, with 25% of any sale donated to Emeryville Celebration of the Arts, Inc. The City of Emeryville Art in Public Places Program will consider accepted artwork for a purchase award, with selected work becoming part of the City's permanent collection. Only entries that are for sale are eligible for the purchase award. Artist bios/resumés will be requested in August, and accepted artwork images may be included in a catalog and/or used for publicity without compensation.
