35 Under 35

The Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences invites applications to "35 Under 35", a juried competition and exhibition showcasing 35 works of art created by artists 18 to 35 years of age. Artists who live and/or work in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, or New York are eligible to apply. The juror is Ruba Katrib, Curator & Director of Curatorial Affairs at MoMA PS1.

Eligible mediums include drawing, painting, hand-pulled prints, photography, mixed media, wall-hung 2D materials in the crafts, video, and computer generated digital work displayed as prints. Work must be original, created within the last two years, and not previously shown at LBIF. Two-dimensional works should not exceed 60 inches in width and height, and not exceed 10 lbs. Work may not project beyond 18 inches in the third dimension. All artwork must be for sale. The Long Beach Island Foundation will retain a 40% commission on all works sold during the exhibition.

Entry fee is $35.00 for up to 3 entries (non-refundable). Submissions must include 1-3 images in JPEG format (1200 pixels or greater on the longest side, under 5 MB) and a 1-2 page artist statement, bio, or resume listing the artist's home address and year of birth. The deadline for entries is May 24, 2024. Accepted entries will be notified by email by June 5, 2024. Work must be received by July 11, 2024. Exhibition dates are July 20 - August 18, 2024. Awards include $500 first prize, $250 second prize, $100 third prize, and three honorable mentions. Unsold artwork will be returned to artists after the close of the show on August 19, 2024.
