About This Call
The Alexandria Museum of Art invites artists over 18 working in any medium to submit original work completed in 2019 or later for the 34th September Competition. All artists are eligible, and the museum encourages submissions in video and experimental media.
Each artist may submit two works for a $40 entry fee, with additional works accepted for $20 each. Submissions must include digital images (maximum 10 images and/or 10 videos, minimum 2 total samples), saved as JPG files smaller than 5MB at highest resolution. Video files must not exceed 100MB or 30 minutes in length. A maximum 100-word artist statement is required for catalog and label use. Work must not exceed 7 feet in any direction or weigh more than 200 lbs. Entries will be blind juried by digital images. All selected works must arrive pre-paid by June 19, 2021, with a pre-paid return address label.
Awards include First Place ($800), Second Place ($500), Third Place ($300), and three Honorable Mentions ($100 each), plus a Purchase Award selected by museum staff. Awards will be presented at the opening reception on July 9, 2021 at 6:00pm. The juror is Dr. Andrew James Wulf, Executive Director of the Albany Museum of Art. The exhibition runs through October 23, 2021. A 30% commission is charged on all sales. The museum assumes no responsibility for loss or damage during transit, though works will be insured while on museum premises.
