34th Annual No Big Heads Self-Portrait Exhibition

The University of Alaska Anchorage Hugh McPeck Gallery presents the 34th Annual No Big Heads Exhibition, a national juried self-portrait competition of limited size. The exhibition is open to all artists.

Works must be no larger than 12 inches by 12 inches in any direction, including framing and hanging materials. Works must have been completed within the last three years and cannot have been entered into any previous No Big Heads exhibition with the Hugh McPeck Gallery. Limit of two entries per person. Works accepted in all media forms with a weight limitation of 40 pounds. All pieces must arrive ready to hang or display. No living things, dead animals that have not been processed, bodily fluids, physical drugs, or alcohol will be accepted. Any piece accepted into the exhibition may not be removed from the Gallery before the close date.

Entry fee is $25 per entry for the general public; UAA students with current identification pay $15 per entry. Submissions deadline is September 12, 2019. Accepted works will be notified on September 16th. All physical submissions must arrive by September 30th. The exhibition opens October 3rd with a reception from 5:00-7:00 pm and awards ceremony at 5:30 pm. The exhibition closes October 24th. Awards include $1,000 for Best of Show and $1,000 in other cash prizes. The juror is April Bey. UAA charges a 10% commission on sales; mark NFS on your application if your work is not for sale.
