About This Call

The 33rd September Competition is an online-only exhibition open to all artists over 18 working in any medium. All work must be original and completed in the last two years (2018 or later). The competition welcomes submissions in video and other experimental media.

Each artist may submit two full view works with a $40 non-refundable entry fee. Additional works may be submitted for $20 per entry. Entries will be blind juried by digital images. Digital images must be smaller than 5MB and saved as JPG at the highest resolution possible. Video files must not exceed 100MB and cannot exceed 30 minutes in length. No work should exceed seven feet in any direction or weigh more than 200 lbs. Entry must include digital images, entry fee, and a maximum 100-word artist statement. The deadline for entry is May 8, 2020.

Awards will be presented at a virtual Exhibition Opening and Awards Presentation on July 10, 2020, featuring juror Kristen Miller Zohn. First Place: $800; Second Place: $500; Third Place: $300; Honorable Mention: $100 (three awards); Best Packed Artwork: $100. The museum will also select one work for purchase and accession to its permanent collection. The exhibition opens online July 7 and closes October 24. Selected artists will receive jury notification by email on May 18. A 30% commission will be charged on all sales.
