About This Call
The Art Barn School of Art invites original works in two-dimensional media and ceramics from artists 18 years and older living in the United States. This premier regional exhibition has championed exceptional quality in visual arts across Northwest Indiana, Chicagoland, and Southwest Michigan for over three decades.
The exhibition offers $5,000 in purchase and merit awards, including Best of Show ($500), Merit Awards ($20-$300), Purchase Awards ($300-$500), the George Roby Award for Ceramic Arts ($250), and the Jan Sullivan Emerging Artist Award ($200, for artists ages 18-25). All purchase and merit award funds go solely to the artist. Entry fees and sponsorships directly benefit Art Barn School of Art's educational programs.
Eligible works must be original design and personal execution created within the last two years and not previously exhibited in Art Barn's Annual Juried Art Exhibitions. Two-dimensional media may include drawing, fiber, mixed media, painting, pastels, photography, printmaking, and digital media (maximum 40"x44" including frame, depth max 4"). Ceramic works must be primarily composed of ceramic, may be 2 or 3-dimensional and functional or non-functional, with a maximum size of 16"x12"x12" (single pieces only, no sets). AI-generated art is not permitted. Entry fee is $40 for up to 2 entries; a third entry costs an additional $5 (waived for current Art Barn members). The jurors are Alex Warnick, a natural history artist specializing in avian illustrations, and Avon Waters, an award-winning expressionist painter and former President of the Indiana Plein Air Painters Association. Selection notification will be sent by May 8, 2026. Accepted work must be delivered May 29-30, 2026. The exhibition opens June 8 and closes August 13, 2026.
