31st National Juried Exhibition: Sanctuary

The South Cobb Arts Alliance (SCAA) announces the 31st Annual National Juried Exhibition entitled "Sanctuary," running from August 6 to September 19, 2018. The exhibition explores the meaning and perception of sanctuary to individual artists, whether in the literal sense or from a deeper, metaphorical perspective. Sanctuary can mean many things—a home, a place of refuge, security, a temple or church, nature, or something found within one's own heart and imagination.

The juror and prize judge is Charles Young Walls, an award-winning painter with a BFA from Arizona State University and training from the National Academy of Design and Art Students League in New York City. He is a Signature Member of Oil Painters of America and a member of the Portrait Society of America and American Impressionist Society. Awards include $1,000 First Prize, $500 Second Prize, $250 Third Prize, and two $125 Awards of Excellence, given at the juror's discretion.

Open to all USA residents age 18 or older. Entry fee is $35 for up to three works. Original work must be completed within the last two years, not previously shown with SCAA, and priced for sale. 2-D artwork must be no larger than 48" x 48" and no smaller than 11" x 14" (including mat and frame), weigh no more than 25 lbs., and be properly framed or gallery wrapped and wired for hanging. 3-D sculpture must not exceed 45 pounds or 36" in any direction. Works are juried by digital image only. SCAA retains a 25% commission on sales and adds 6% sales tax. Hand-delivered work accepted July 31, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mable House Art Center, 5239 Floyd Rd., Mableton, GA 30126. Shipped work must arrive by July 26. Reception and Awards Ceremony: August 11, 5 to 7 p.m.
