About This Call
The 30th Annual Gateway to the Rockies Art Show & Sale is a juried art competition open to all artists 18 years and older. The exhibition runs November 6 through December 5, 2025 at Aurora Central Library, 14949 E. Alameda Parkway, Aurora, CO 80012.
Artists may submit work in three categories: Two-Dimensional, Photography, and Miniatures. A maximum of three images per category may be entered, for a total of nine images. Entry fee is $45.00 for three images, with an additional $5.00 per image thereafter. AAG members are eligible for a $10.00 discount. All artwork must have been completed within the last five years and cannot have been shown in any previous Gateway Art Show. Two-Dimensional and Photography pieces must be hand-delivered; Miniatures may be mailed via United States Post Office with return postage included. Take-in for accepted artwork is November 1, 2025, 10 am–Noon. A reception and awards ceremony will be held Saturday, November 8, from 3:30–5:30 pm, with the awards ceremony at 4:30 pm. Artwork pickup is December 6, 2025, Noon–2 pm.
Two-Dimensional artwork must be original fine art in any media (no classroom work, computer graphics, crafts, 3-D work, sculpture, or AI-generated artwork). Minimum size is 8" x 10"; maximum outside dimension including frame is 30" on any side. Photography includes traditional, digital, or computer-enhanced work with the same size requirements. Canvas and aluminum prints are acceptable without a frame. Miniatures follow two-dimensional rules with a maximum size of 5" x 7" plus frame of 8" x 10". All artwork must be suitably framed and wired with flat clips. Jurors are Michael Keyes (2-D and Miniatures) and Colleen Hennessey (Photography). Awards include Best Show, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Honorable Mention for Two-Dimensional and Photography; 1st, 2nd, and Honorable Mention for Miniatures. A 20% commission on sold work goes to the Aurora Artists Guild, with 5% of that donated to the City of Aurora Central Library. Entry deadline is September 1, 2025.
