30 x 30: 30 Years of Public Art in Palm Springs

The Palm Springs Public Arts Commission invites artists to submit work for "30 x 30," a juried art exhibition celebrating 30 years of public art in Palm Springs. Since 1988, the City of Palm Springs has used development fees to fund public art, creating a collection of over 60 works throughout the city. This exhibition asks artists to explore and share their vision of public art: How do we interact with public art? Where would you like to see new public art? What should public art look like and be made of?

Artists of any age, background, and level of experience are welcome to submit original work in any medium. New works specific to public art in Palm Springs are encouraged, but realized concepts, drawings, and maquettes are also acceptable if wired and ready to hang or free-standing for gallery display. Maximum size for 2-D works is 30" height or width. Maximum height for 3-D works is 30" and must fit on a standard sculpture base. Up to 10 images may be submitted per application, with a maximum of 10 applications allowed per artist.

Selected artwork must be delivered to Palm Springs Art Museum on May 14th, 2019 from 10:00am-1:00pm, ready to hang with wire. The exhibition opens May 16th at 6:00pm at the Palm Springs Art Museum's Educational Wing (Sheffer/Sheffler Space) with a free community reception. The exhibition runs through June 6th, 2019.
