About This Call
This national open juried exhibition invites artists who are legal residents of the United States to submit two-dimensional dry pastel work. Artists must be 18 years of age or older. All entries must have been made in the past 3 years (2020 or later). Artwork previously exhibited in a juried PPS show or at the Wayne Art Center is not eligible.
All works must be in dry soft pastel with at least 80% of the finished painting in dry pastel. No oil pastels or varnished dry pastels are accepted. Paintings must not have been done under teacher supervision, either in a class, workshop, or from instructional media. All work must be framed, wired, and ready to hang with no saw tooth hangers or clip frames allowed. Matting should be white or off-white, with double mat liners no more than 1/4". The framed painting cannot exceed 48" on the longest side, and the unframed painting must be at least 100 square inches. If matted, the visible area within the mat must be 100 square inches.
Entry fees are $40 for members and $50 for non-members. All work must be for sale, and once accepted, the price cannot be changed. Wayne Art Center will receive 40% of the sale price with the remaining 60% going to the artist. Shipped artworks must be received between August 25, 2023 and August 31, 2023. Handling fees are $25 when shipped in an Air Float Box or equivalent, and $50 for other packaging. Payment and prepaid return shipping documentation must be included with the shipment. Once accepted, works cannot be withheld from the exhibition under penalty of a two-year exclusion from future juried PPS exhibitions. All paintings must hang for the duration of the exhibition.
Submit high-quality JPEG image files at least 1500 pixels on the longest edge with a maximum file size of 30 MB. Images should be cropped to show only the artwork without matting, frames, or background. For questions about the exhibition, contact Blanche Levitt Torphy ([email protected]) or Al Richards ([email protected]).
