About This Call
The Transparent Watercolor Society of America is accepting entries for its 2nd Biennial Member Online Exhibition. Open to artist residents of North America 18 years or older who do not hold Signature status with TWSA, NWS, or AWS and were not juried into the TWSA 2025 Annual Exhibition. Applicants must be current TWSA members with paid 2025 dues. Artists may submit one or two transparent watercolor paintings for a $25 entry fee, though only one per artist may be juried into the exhibition. Accepted artwork may not be displayed elsewhere during the exhibition dates.
Submissions are accepted July 1-31, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Acceptance notifications will be sent prior to August 15, 2025. Paintings must be original works painted by the artist, not done in class or under supervision, and may not be copies or derivatives of another person's work. Work must be transparent watercolor applied on a single piece of rag or wood pulp paper free of pigment and embedded materials. Graphite pencil may be used only for planning marks. Opaque white paint, gesso, gouache, acrylics, water-soluble oils, inks, metallic or iridescent paints, varnish, wax, collage, impasto, embossing, Yupo paper, canvas, and digital enhancements are not permitted. No work previously exhibited with TWSA may be submitted. Image files must be JPEG or JPG format, 1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side, and under 5 MB.
Jurors Lenox Wallace and Donna Jill Witty, TWSA Masters, will select up to 100 paintings for online display. Awards include First place $1,000, Second place $750, Third place $500, Awards of Merit $250, and Honorable Mentions $100. Top three award winners receive one point toward signature status. The exhibition will be displayed on the TWSA website September 1-30, 2025, and indefinitely on the TWSA YouTube Channel. Life Members enter free using code TWSA4Life. Entry fees are non-refundable.
