About This Call
The New Frontiers Juried Art Show and Sale pushes the definition of Western Art and is accessible to all types of buyers, from those just starting to collect art to established collectors looking for something different. The show demonstrates diverse artistic visions of Western Heritage, reflecting the continuous reimagining and reinterpretation of prized ideals. This year, the scope has expanded to include artisan goods, including furniture, instruments, and pottery.
The show takes place in the CFD Old West Museum from November 3, 2023 to December 3, 2023. All art and artisan goods are selected by an independent jury comprised of professionals in the art community. Jurors may accept some, all, or none of an artist's submissions. Artists selected for the show are invited to submit additional pieces, including up to two holiday decorations. Award judging is completed the day of the New Frontiers Opening Reception. Acceptance notifications will be sent by July 7, 2023.
Artists may submit up to four pieces total. Entry fee is $10 per piece, plus a $10 media fee. All images must be sized no smaller than 1200 pixels on the longest side and submitted as JPEG under 5MB. Submit one image per piece; multiple views of 3-D work must be sent as a split-screen image in a single JPEG. All artwork must be original works created within the last three years and not previously displayed for sale at the CFD Old West Museum. All pieces must be for sale and priced appropriately. The Museum collects a 35% commission on each sale. Last year, pieces sold ranged from $150 to $3,000 with an average sales price of $900.
Awards include Best of Show ($500), 2nd Place ($250), 3rd Place ($100), and Best Holiday Decoration ($100). All 2-D artwork must use hanging wire for wall mounting and arrive show-ready. 2-D pieces will not exceed 47 inches horizontal or 60 inches vertical, including frame. 3-D pieces will not exceed three square feet at the base. Artisan goods must be able to stand on their own if exceeding 3 feet at the base, with maximum width of 8 feet and maximum height of 12 feet.
