2nd Annual New Appalachia Exhibition w/ Guest Curator

The 2nd Annual New Appalachia Exhibition seeks to capture the modern, contemporary, and innovative artistic experiences surrounding the Appalachia region and beyond. This annual Spring showcase brings fresh perspectives of emerging talent for an audience of buyers, collectors, and the general public. The show is co-curated by Kyle Houser, Executive Director of Pittsburgh Center for the Arts & Media.

The exhibition welcomes artwork from any medium, including work from Emerging, Student, Mid-Career, and Professional Artists. Work should convey something "new" directionally and may challenge viewers' perspectives on the arts, or offer a fresh take on a classic approach with modern appeal. Sculptural works are also welcomed. The theme does not exclusively revolve around Appalachia or Appalachian themes, and there are no location restrictions.

Eligibility: Open to artists 18+ in the United States and Canada. Work should ideally have been created in the last three years and must be original artwork ready to display. Work must not have been previously displayed at Vestige Concept Gallery and must be for sale. No Giclees or reproductions of original works are accepted unless the work itself is a Giclee or digital. Entry fee is $27 for 2 entries; additional entries are $5 each. Up to 9 entries may be submitted. Applicants must submit minimum 2 work samples, artist bio, and artist statement. Artists will be notified of acceptance by April 18th. Shipped works must arrive by April 28th, 2022. The opening reception is Saturday, April 30th, 2022 at 6 PM, with the show running through Memorial Day weekend. Vestige Concept Gallery retains a 30% commission on sold artwork. Artists are responsible for shipping costs and insurance to and from the gallery. 2D work must not exceed 30lbs including frame. 3D work and audio/video submissions require gallery discussion and will be placed on waitlist status.
