About This Call
Florence Regional Arts Alliance (FRAA) invites artists to participate in the 2nd annual Florence Fest, to be held at the Florence Events Center on April 27 and 28, 2018. The event will feature two days of jazz, art, and wine, highlighted by talented jazz musicians and outstanding wine from Oregon wineries. Last year's event attracted over 700 people with 40% of selected art sold.
Selection will be made by Margaret Prentice, Professor Emeritus in the Art Department at the University of Oregon, an accomplished painter and printmaker who has curated numerous exhibitions throughout the Northwest. Her work is included in over 55 public collections nationally and internationally, including Harvard University, Dartmouth University, Northwestern University, the National Library of New Zealand, and the Getty Museum Collection.
Awards include three overall cash prizes: 1st place $1,000, 2nd place $500, 3rd place $250. Additionally, three separate $250 awards will be given for outstanding work in 2D, 3D, and photography, plus a "People's Choice" award based on votes from attendees. Selected artists may continue to exhibit their work at the Florence Events Center in Galleries 1 and 5 through May 31.
Eligibility is national. Entry fee is $35 for the first entry, $15 for each additional entry (up to three entries total). Work must be original and created within the last 5 years. 2D entries maximum 48" height x 36" width including frame; 3D work maximum 20 pounds and 20" width, with limited space for free-standing pieces up to 30" at widest point. 2D art must be wired and gallery-ready. Submit 1-3 high-resolution images (1400-4000 pixels, 72 dpi, jpeg format, 3MB maximum). All work must be for sale; FRAA retains 25% sales commission. Delivery of accepted work is April 25 by 4:00 pm. Artist reception and prize announcements are April 26, 6-8 pm. Work pickup deadline is May 31.
