About This Call
The Walker Art Committee invites visual artists residing in the US to enter the 2nd Annual "At the Walker" Open Exhibition. Juror David Gross will select up to 50 finalists to exhibit their work in the gallery space adjoining the Walker Art Collection, which features work by many celebrated twentieth century artists.
Representational and conceptual work in the following categories will be accepted: 2D (all two dimensional media excluding photography), 3D (all three dimensional media), and Photography. Artists may submit up to 4 artworks for consideration. Over $3,000 in cash prizes will be awarded, including a "Best of Show" prize of $1,000, $300 for 1st Place in each category, $200 for 2nd Place in each category, $150 for 3rd Place in each category, and Honorable Mentions. The entry fee is $35 (non-refundable) for up to four artworks per artist.
Eligibility: Artists 18 years and older whose primary residence is in the United States may apply. Entries must be of the artist's original design and not a result of a class assignment. Work must be no larger than 30 inches in any dimension. For 3D entries, the sum of combined measurements (height + width + depth) should not exceed 50" total and weight should not exceed 30 lbs. Digital images must be JPEG files, 1920 pixels on the shortest side, no larger than 3 MB in RGB or sRGB color space. Video and audio entries will not be accepted. Entry deadline: Saturday, February 20th, 2016 at Midnight CT. Notification to artists: Friday, March 4th, 2016. Delivery of artwork: Monday-Friday, March 21st-25th, 2016. Exhibition dates: April 4th, 2016 - May 28th, 2016. Artist's Reception & Critique: Saturday, April 9th, 2016, 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Artwork will be shipped from gallery by Friday, June 10th, 2016. Artists are responsible for round-trip shipping and insurance of artworks. Accepted artwork must be shipped 'installation ready.' All 2D work must be framed with wire hangers. Only plexiglas framing is accepted for shipped 2D artwork. Artworks must be available for loan during the entire exhibition period.
