29th September Competition

The 29th September Competition is open to all artists over 18 working in any medium. All work must be original and completed in the last two years (2014 or later). The competition welcomes submissions in video and experimental media.

Each artist may submit two full view works for a $40 entry fee, with additional works accepted for $20 per entry. Submissions must include 2-6 images (JPG format, smaller than 5MB, 300 dpi resolution), up to 3 audio files, and up to 3 video files (maximum 30 minutes each). Total submissions may not exceed 9 samples. Each image must be labeled with only the artwork title, medium, size, and date. Video files must not exceed 100 MB. Work must not exceed 7 feet in any direction or 200 lbs in weight. A maximum 100-word artist statement is required for catalog and label use. All entries must be submitted by June 1, 2016 at midnight MDT.

Selected works must arrive by August 25, 2016 with a pre-paid return shipping label. The exhibition runs September 2 - November 19, 2016. Juror Francis Pavy will select works for exhibition. $2,000 in juror-designated cash awards will be announced at the Opening Reception on September 2. A 30% commission is charged on all sales. The museum assumes no responsibility for loss or damage during transit, though works will be insured while on museum premises. Any entries without a stated insurance value will be assigned a maximum value of $500.
