27th Annual Colored Pencil Society of America (CPSA) International Exhibition

The 27th Annual Colored Pencil Society of America (CPSA) International Exhibition is open to living artists 18 years or older, regardless of geographic location. There is no preferential treatment for CPSA members versus non-members. The entry fee is $25 for CPSA members and $35 for non-members, with each fee covering one or two entries. The deadline for entries is 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time Zone on March 31, 2019.

Artwork must be 100% colored pencil on a manufacturer-prepared surface, with acceptable additions including solvents and graphite pencil used under or between colored pencil layers. No pure, exposed areas of graphite are allowed. Artwork must be two-dimensional and completed in 2016 or after, and not previously hung in any CPSA International Exhibition. Artwork must be ready to hang by wire with Plexiglas glazing only (no glass or clip-on frames). Outside frame dimensions may not exceed 32 x 40 inches. Mats must be white, off-white, beige, gray, or black. By submitting an entry, artists commit to shipping their artwork if accepted for the full duration of the event.

The exhibition will be held at City of Brea Art Gallery, 1 Civic Circle, Brea, California 92821. Accepted artists will pay a $65 cartage fee to Orange County Fine Art Storage. Artwork must be shipped using UPS, FedEx, or DHL in sturdy reusable cartons with no loose packing materials. Numerous monetary awards and the CIPPY Best of Show award are presented each year; in 2018, cash awards totaled $17,125. The gallery takes a 30% commission on sales. CPSA members may earn signature status by having their art appear in three CPSA International Exhibitions within ten years.
