$25,000 Painting Commission for "The Reintegration of Pro Football"

ArtsinStark is awarding a $25,000 commission for the creation of a painting to celebrate "The Reintegration of Pro Football." Artists will apply and submit concepts from April 6 to May 6, 2016. A winner will be selected on May 27, 2016, and will have 30 days from the date the contract is signed to create the painting based on the submitted concept. The completed painting will hang at the offices of ArtsinStark in Canton, OH and be displayed around the area, including at the Canton Museum of Art. As part of The ELEVEN project, the painting will be unveiled on August 5, 2016, at the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Enshrinement Festival in Canton, Ohio, along with a giant mural of the painting.

Eligibility is open to any professional American artist over 18 years of age. The entry fee is $10. Applicants must submit: 1) one page resume, 2) images of at least three previous works, and 3) a one page concept for the creation of a new painting capturing the theme "The Reintegration of Pro Football." The concept may be a visual rendering or descriptive concept if the previous body of work is exceptionally strong. No more than 2 concepts can be submitted. The finished painting must be at least 36" x 18". Pastels, drawings, airbrush, painting, or digital painting will be accepted, but there must be evidence of the artist's hand in the actual creation of the piece. No photoshopped images of unoriginal work will be accepted.

Winning concepts will be selected based on: 1) Does it truly capture the moment "The Reintegration of Pro Football"; 2) Does the work of this artist represent the highest quality of art being made in America today; 3) Is the concept for the painting so amazing that visitors to Canton will want to see it whether they are football fans or not.
