About This Call

The 250 Years of New Jersey digital exhibition is a public art project at Newark Liberty International Airport's Terminal A, focused on creating a transformative customer experience and highlighting the broad spectrum of talent, opportunity, and cultures that make New Jersey vibrant. The next installment of this annual exhibition will feature artwork displayed in a digital welcome banner spanning the departures area of Terminal A, unveiled in early 2026. Artists' names and artwork information will be included with the display and on a supporting website.

Artists are invited to submit up to two examples of completed 2-dimensional still artworks in digital format. Work samples should be high-quality digital images of paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, or work in native digital format. Moving images, animations, and performative work will not be considered. The curatorial theme is rooted in RevolutionNJ, seeking artworks that frame, highlight, or address ideals that drove the American Revolution and their implications for today's society, including themes of liberty, pursuing happiness, equality, justice, and self-determination. Work that could be interpreted as promotion of political issues or candidates, or that is sexual or violent in nature will not be considered. The PANYNJ Art Advisory Council will select approximately twenty artists' work for inclusion. Selected artists will receive a $1,000 stipend in exchange for use of their work for 13 months, will retain copyright, and their names and images will be shared through social media and other communication platforms.

Eligibility: Artists/artist teams must be at least 18 years old, legally able to complete a contract with PANYNJ, and current residents of New Jersey. Priority consideration is given to artists residing in Newark and/or Elizabeth. Artists selected for the 2024 or 2025 exhibitions are not eligible; those selected in 2023 are eligible to apply. Upon selection, artists must provide digital artwork in PNG or JPG format with a height of 1080 pixels and work collaboratively with the project coordination team to ensure files are appropriate for public display. Artist notifications will be made no later than November 19, 2025, with project installation scheduled for early 2026.
