About This Call
Marion Cultural Alliance presents Horse Fever Artists Then & Now, a special exhibition honoring the artists whose creativity helped shape Ocala's most iconic public art project. This commemorative exhibit launches MCA's 25th Anniversary Year, celebrating 25 years of supporting artists, advancing creativity, and enriching Ocala's cultural landscape. The exhibition invites all past Horse Fever artists to reconnect, share their stories, and showcase artwork inspired by their experience with this treasured community project.
Eligibility is open to all artists who participated in any previous Horse Fever public art projects commissioned through Marion Cultural Alliance. Artists working in 2D and 3D mediums are welcome, including paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture, mixed media, collage, textiles, glass, metal, wood, or ceramics. Each artist may submit one piece for consideration. Artworks may be new or existing, but must be original with no reproductions or copyrighted material accepted. Suggested size per piece is up to 50 inches in any direction; oversized work may be accepted depending on gallery space with prior approval from the Gallery Curator.
All 2D work must be gallery ready, properly wired, and framed or on gallery-wrapped canvas. 3D work must be assembled and installed by the artist upon delivery with all necessary display materials provided. All artwork exhibited must be for sale. MCA retains a 30% commission on sales, with 70% going to the artist; proceeds benefit MCA's mission. Artists are responsible for physically delivering and picking up their artwork. Artwork drop-off is Monday, January 5 (10am–4pm) and pick-up is Saturday, January 31 (11am–4pm). Digital submissions must be completed by Sunday, December 28, 2025, by midnight at https://mcajan2026.artcall.org/. The exhibition runs January 9–31, 2026, with an opening reception on Friday, January 9, 5:00–7:00 PM at Brick City Center for the Arts, 23 SW Broadway Street, Ocala, FL 34471. For questions or to arrange alternate drop-off/pick-up times, contact [email protected] or 352-369-1500.
