24th Annual Wills Creek Exhibition of Fine Art

The Allegany Arts Council invites artists to submit work for its 24th Annual Wills Creek Exhibition of Fine Art, a juried competition held at the Saville Gallery in Cumberland, Maryland. This exhibition celebrates contemporary and innovative art across all mediums and genres. One-third of selected works will be three-dimensional. The competition offers more than $4,000 in prizes, including Best of Show ($1,500), First Place ($1,000), Second Place ($750), Third Place ($500), Honorable Mention ($250), and People's Choice ($100).

Eligible entries must be original works completed within the last three years that have not been previously exhibited in the Saville Gallery. All works must be for sale. Two-dimensional works may not exceed 48" in width or 84" in height and must be framed and wired for hanging. Three-dimensional works may not exceed 48" in width or 84" in height. No more than two works per artist will be accepted. The entry fee is $30.00 for the first entry and $10.00 for each additional entry, up to six entries per artist. Artists may submit 1-6 images, 0-6 audio files, and 0-6 video files (up to 18 total samples).

Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and are encouraged to obtain shipping insurance. Works should be shipped with a prepaid return label; artists without a prepaid label will be charged a $10.00 handling fee. The gallery retains a 35% commission on all sales and insures works onsite for 65% of their stated value. Artwork delivery is August 15-18, 2023, with the exhibition running August 26-September 23, 2023. The public opening is August 26, 2023, 6-8 PM with awards at 7 PM. Juror Michael Lease is an artist, educator, and curator based in Richmond, Virginia, and director of facilities and experience design at the Institute for Contemporary Art at VCU.
