About This Call
The Red River Watercolor Society presents the 24th Annual National Watermedia Exhibition, running June 19 through August 5, 2017 at The Hjemkomst Center in Moorhead, MN. The exhibition is juried by Andy Evansen, AWS, PAPA, NWWS, RRWS.
Eligibility is open to all artists 18 years of age or older working in two-dimensional water-soluble media (watercolor, gouache, casein, egg tempera, and acrylic) on a single piece of paper or Yupo. Paintings must have been completed within the last two years and not previously exhibited in RRWS National Exhibitions. Minimum image size (excluding mat) is 108 square inches; maximum framed size is 60 inches in either direction. No pastels, oil pastels, water-based oils, prints, digital images, reproductions, or canvas are acceptable. Any collage elements must be less than 10% of total surface and must be the artist's own creation on paper. Only original work is accepted; no supervision, class work, copies of other artists' work, or work from photographs not created by the artist.
Entry fee is $35 ($25 for RRWS members with discount code). Optional RRWS membership is $15 ($25 annual membership available). Submit up to two digital images in jpg format at 72 ppi/dpi, minimum 1920 pixels on the longest side, maximum 5 MB file size. Only one painting per artist can be juried into the show. Accepted paintings must be framed simply with white or pale neutral mats and wired for hanging under plexiglass. Handling fees are $15 for hand-delivery or $30 for shipped paintings. A 30% donation to RRWS is requested on sales. The opening reception is June 20, 5:30-8:00 pm with awards presentation at 7:00 pm (free admission). Exhibition awards include Merit (5) $100, Red River Regional Award $500, High Water Award $500, Excellence $500, Bronze $750, Silver $1000, and Gold $1250. A five-day workshop with juror Andy Evansen is offered June 19-23, 2017, 9am-4pm, at $350 for members and $395 for non-members.
