About This Call
The 24th Annual Colored Pencil Society of America (CPSA) International Exhibition is open to living artists 18 years or older, regardless of geographic location. Artists may submit a digital image of one or two different works, but only one piece per artist may appear in the exhibition. Media must be 100% colored pencil; use of any other media disqualifies entry. Artwork must be two-dimensional on a single surface, completed after March 31, 2013, and not previously hung in any CPSA International Exhibition. Concept, design, and execution must be solely that of the artist with no work copied from copyrighted materials, collaborations, or digital reproductions. Framed size cannot exceed 32x40 inches, with white, off-white, tan, gray, or black mats and simple frames. Artwork must be ready to hang by wire with plexiglas only—no glass or clip-on frames.
Entry fee is $25 for CPSA members (covers one or two entries) or $35 for non-members. The deadline for entries is 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time on March 31, 2016. By submitting an entry, artists commit to shipping their artwork if accepted. Accepted artists are responsible for all shipping expenses plus a $45 cartage fee (or $25 for hand-delivered uncrated paintings). All artwork must be for sale, with the gallery retaining a 50% commission on sales. Artwork must be available for the duration of the exhibition (June 25–August 13, 2016).
Juror selection based on artistic merit occurs April 15–30, 2016, with artist notification on May 1, 2016. Selected artwork must be shipped for arrival May 30–June 10, 2016, and will undergo final review to verify specifications compliance. Numerous monetary awards and the CIPPY Best of Show award are presented annually; last year cash awards totaled $16,400. Award winners are notified by telephone between June 22–24, 2016. CPSA members may earn signature status by having their art appear in three CPSA International Exhibitions within ten years. Contact [email protected] or call 242-248-9988 (9 a.m.–6 p.m. Pacific Time) for questions.
