About This Call
The 21st Annual Colored Pencil Society of America (CPSA) International Exhibition is open to living artists 18 years or older, regardless of geographic location. Artists may submit a digital image of one or two different works, but only one piece per artist may appear in the exhibition. The entry fee is $25 for CPSA members and $35 for non-members. The deadline for entries is 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time, March 31, 2013.
Artwork must be 100% colored pencil, two-dimensional on a single surface, and completed after March 31, 2010. Work cannot have been previously hung in any CPSA exhibition. Framed size cannot exceed 32x40 inches. Mats must be white, off-white, tan, gray or black; frames should be simple in design. Artwork must be ready to hang by wire with plexiglas only—no glass or sawtooth hangers. Artwork may be priced for sale or not for sale, with a 30% commission retained by the City of Brea Art Gallery for any sales.
Selection involves two steps: juror selection based on artistic merit, followed by a final review of shipped work to verify it meets specifications. Accepted artists are responsible for all shipping expenses plus a $40 cartage fee. Numerous monetary awards and the CIPPY Best of Show award are presented each year; last year cash awards totaled over $16,000. CPSA members may earn Signature status by having their art appear in three CPSA International Exhibitions within ten years. Artists are notified of acceptance on cpsa.org and by postcard, with shipping instructions available May 1, 2013.
