About This Call
The Town of Carbondale Public Art Commission invites international artists to submit sculpture proposals for Art Around Town, a public art exhibition located in downtown Carbondale on Main Street and the Rio Grande Trail. The exhibition runs from June 4, 2026 through May 17, 2027. Carbondale is located 30 miles from Aspen and is part of a Creative Arts District that draws a diverse local and international community.
Selected artists will receive a $1,000 honorarium per sculpture (up to 4 sculptures per artist) upon installation in May 2026, plus a $500 travel allowance. The Public Art Commission assists with marketing and sales of the sculptures to enhance commission opportunities for artists. An Artist Reception and Community Art Walk will take place on June 4, 2026, and artist attendance is highly recommended.
