About This Call
The Clarke County Historical Association (CCHA) invites artists working in a variety of media to submit applications for the juried Art at the Mill Show. All work submitted must be for sale. Sales from the show help support the Clarke County Historical Association, including the Burwell-Morgan Mill. The exhibition offers emerging and established artists the opportunity to showcase their talents and latest works.
Accepted media includes original, two-dimensional work with pigment (acrylic, oil, watercolor, gouache, drawing, encaustic, printmaking, pastel, mixed media) and original three-dimensional work (basketry, metal relief, glasswork, pottery, sculpture, woodworking, mosaic). Submissions must be original, non-reproducible work not previously submitted and completed within the last two years by living artists. Due to space limitations and humidity, photography, fabric art, and digitized art are not accepted. Two-dimensional artwork must be suitably framed or on gallery-wrapped canvas with painted edges (minimum 1½" canvas depth). All 2D media except acrylic, oil, or encaustic must be framed with glass. Watercolor and gouache must either be framed with glass or protected with wax medium or varnish. Artwork must have wire on back for hanging. Three-dimensional work must be freestanding or presented on a pedestal/stand.
The entry fee is $35.00 (non-refundable) and permits artists to submit a maximum of five pieces of art in any medium for jury consideration. Artistic work is juried based on artistic theme (design, vision, creativity, originality), technical execution (technique, skill, degree of difficulty, mastery of materials), and pricing based on the specific market and past sales. After the jury process, artists will be notified of accepted work via email. CCHA receives 35% of the sales price of each piece, with the artist receiving 65%. Any artwork unclaimed after thirty days following the conclusion of Art Pick-Up will become the property of CCHA.
