2026 Richards Family Prize

The Griffin Museum announces its call for the 2026 Richards Family Prize, a $4,000 scholarship for mid-career photographers. The museum supports emerging, mid-career, and professional talents in photography across all genres including Fine Art, Documentary, Photojournalism, digital, film-based, and cameraless images.

The scholarship is open to professional and mid-career photographers worldwide. "Professional" is defined as any photographer who earns the majority of their income from photography. "Mid-career" is defined as any photographer with visibility in exhibitions, gallery representation, and scholarship and residency success. There is no age limit, no residency requirement, and no application fee. Ineligible applicants include Griffin Museum employees and their immediate families, board members and their immediate families, and jurors' immediate families.

In addition to the $4,000 scholarship funds, the Richards Prize includes a published catalog by Griffin Museum Press and an exhibition in December 2026. The juror is Karen Haas, Lane Curator of Photographs at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Submissions must be made through Café and include: a biography and artistic CV (as a single PDF), a statement of artistic intent, and 5-10 flattened RGB JPGs at 1200 pixels on the longest side, or up to 6 videos submitted as links. The application period runs from September 16, 2025 to October 31, 2025 at 11:59 PM Mountain Time. Jury dates are November 1 - December 7, 2025.
