About This Call
The Thousand Oaks Art Association presents the 2026 Open Juried Art Show, running May 4-27, 2026 at the Thousand Oaks Community Gallery, 2331 Borchard Road, Newbury Park, CA 91320. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday, 11am-5pm.
Entries are open February 1 with a deadline of Sunday, March 15 (midnight). Acceptance notifications will be sent April 5. Take-in is Saturday, May 2, 11am-1pm. The reception and awards presentation is Sunday, May 17, 1-3pm (awards at 1:30pm). Pick-up is Wednesday, May 27, 5-6:30pm only.
The show is open to all artists residing in Southern California. Work must be original, completed after January 1, 2023, and never previously exhibited in a judged TOAA show. No AI artwork is accepted. Artists may enter up to 6 pieces with a maximum of 3 pieces per artist accepted into the show. Categories include Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Pastel/Graphics, Mixed Media, Photography/Digital Art, and 3D/Sculpture.
Entry fees are $35 for TOAA members (first piece) and $10 each additional piece, or $45 for non-members (first piece) and $15 each additional piece. Payment is via PayPal/credit card through Online Juried Shows. The association will present $2,750 in cash prizes: Best of Show $300, First Place $200 per category, Second Place $100 per category, Third Place $50 per category, and Honorable Mentions ribbons. Juror and judge is Mike Hernandez, a plein air painter working in gouache, oil, and acrylic.
All work must be dry, clean, undamaged, and properly framed or presented. Unframed gallery-wrapped canvases with painted edges are permitted. Artwork must be ready to hang with wire hangers mounted 4-6" from the top. Maximum dimensions are 6' wide x 7' high x 3" deep; 3D work must fit through a 36" wide door. All work must be hand delivered and remain on exhibit until the end of the show. A 20% commission is charged on all sales. TOAA members are required to sit the gallery during the show; non-member artists are welcome to volunteer. Insurance is the artist's responsibility.
