About This Call
The Keller Public Arts Board is seeking five sculptures for a rotating public art exhibition in the Old Town Keller West area. Sculptures remain under the artist's ownership and are loaned to the exhibit for a two-year period. All sculptures must be "family appropriate" with no sexual, bloody, or violent content, and must pose no risk to public safety. Sculptures must be made of materials that can withstand harsh Texas weather and require no maintenance by the City of Keller.
Each selected artist will receive a $1,500 honorarium for installation, exhibition, and removal of the artwork over the two-year period. Half of the stipend will be provided upon selection, with the remainder paid upon successful installation. One Best in Show winner will receive an additional $500. Pieces sold while on display may be removed, but the artist must replace the sold artwork with a different sculpture, with Board approval, within 60 days.
Artworks will be displayed on existing 5'x5' concrete pads in the Old Town Keller West area, located on the west side of U.S. Highway 377 near the city's border with Fort Worth. Sculptures must have a base that fits on the pad, maximum height of 12 feet, and maximum weight of 2,500 pounds. All works must be original and fully completed. Artists must reside in Texas. Submissions should include a résumé, artist statement (maximum 1,000 words), and sculpture description (maximum 1,000 words) detailing title, media, size, weight, year completed, purchase price, installation requirements, and information on current and future copies. Artists may submit up to 2 applications with 3 sculptures per application. Sculptures must be ready for installation no later than June 1, 2026.
