About This Call
The College of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts at Texas A&M University invites applications for its New Work Development Artist Residency program. The college is committed to incubating new works of art in an environment of creative reciprocity between scholars and artists that crosses disciplinary lines. The college comprises three interdisciplinary units: Dance Science, Visualization, and Performance Studies, with additional programs in Music Performance, Devised Theatre, Music Technology, Graphic Design, Choreography, and Virtual Production. Artists in residence will develop new work while integrating into the life of the college, providing opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to participate in their creative process and engage with faculty and the wider campus community.
Selected artists will receive a $10,000 stipend for living expenses and project materials, on-campus lodging (two bedroom/one bath apartment), shared office space, and access to college facilities including rehearsal and performance spaces, recording studios, visual art studios, and technology resources. The program also provides undergraduate and/or graduate student assistance, professional documentation of public presentations, and visa support for international artists.
Applications must include a Letter of Intent (maximum 1,000 words) with a brief artist statement, description of work and discipline, outline of intended residency work, plans for engaging with students and faculty, and explanation of the college's importance to the work. Applications must also include current CV, draft budget, draft timeline, portfolio of past work, and artist website URL. Submit as a single PDF to [email protected]. The Fall 2025 residency runs August 4–October 4, 2025, with applications due February 3, 2025 and notification February 14, 2025.
